- Prepare for arrival of patients by assuring proper supplies and equipment are available.
- Review the patient chart and assure all consent forms have been signed prior to surgery.
- Admit and prepare patients for surgery, provide education to patient and family/caregiver, initiate a peripheral IV.
- Communicate with other staff to assure continuity of care.
- Provide care for post operative patient recovering from anesthesia
- Educate patient and family on post operative information and medications.
- Communicate with anesthesia team and surgeon to assure patient readiness for discharge.
- Assist in preparing patient for post operative recovery and ensure patient safety during discharge.
