    The Prep Cook supports the cooking team by aiding in food preparation and service, conducting various kitchen tasks such as pot washing, dishwashing, general cleaning, and inventory management of food and supplies.

    Primary Duties

    • Assist in preparing and serving a variety of menu items, including line dishes, salads, soups, and sauces. Ensure ingredients are prepped in advance for all menu items and comply with local health regulations.
    • Properly store and handle raw and cooked foods as well as non-food supplies.
    • Wash pots and dishes efficiently.
    • Operate dishwashing machinery.
    • Distribute and store clean utensils, dishes, and pots.
    • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of production equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen following designated cleaning schedules and protocols.
    • Dispose of trash as needed.
    • Keep assigned workstation clean and safe.
    • Adhere to local health department guidelines for food handling.
    • Practice correct food handling procedures and manage time, materials, and equipment usage to prevent waste.
    • Comply with safety protocols, report any injuries or unsafe conditions, and follow the supervisor's directives.
    • Organize incoming shipments and maintain the organization of kitchen areas such as dry storage racks, walk-in fridge, and freezer.
    Requirements:

    Qualifications

    Experience/ Knowledge:

    • Basic knowledge of professional cooking and knife skills.
    • Familiarity with safety, sanitation, and food handling protocols.
    • Prior experience as a prep or line cook.

    Skills/Aptitudes:

    • Effective communication skills.
    • Consistent attendance and reliability.
    • Team-player mentality.
    • Perform well under pressure.
    • Commitment to delivering quality service and possessing food and beverage expertise.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Good verbal and auditory abilities.
    • Clear close and far vision.
    • Periods of sitting and occasional standing.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying of items up to 50 lbs.
    • Continuous use of manual dexterity, gross motor skills, and frequent use of fine motor skills.
    • Ability to reach, kneel, and stoop regularly.
