    Description

    Our client, LKAB Minerals, is looking for an enthusiastic Logistics & Transportation Coordinator to support the company's expansion in the US market. LKAB is a high-tech international minerals group providing sustainable mineral solutions to various industries. They focus on innovative solutions for civil engineering, construction, polymers, coatings, refractories, and foundries. LKAB Minerals has a global presence with 300 employees across 13 countries. The broader LKAB group, a key producer of processed iron ore products for steel production, has a workforce of 4,200 worldwide.


    About the Role

    This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to grow in the logistics field. You will work in a collaborative team of dedicated professionals, taking on various responsibilities. As the Logistics & Transportation Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in purchasing, transportation planning, customer service, and vendor management. Your tasks will include coordinating transportation operations, negotiating contracts, and monitoring shipments to ensure timely delivery. The ideal candidate will thrive in an international work environment, focused on delivering exceptional customer service and top-tier logistics support. This position is based in LKAB's US headquarters in Chicago and reports directly to the President of North America.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute logistics strategies to enhance transportation operations and boost efficiency.
    • Plan and organize transportation routes and schedules for on-time deliveries.
    • Negotiate contracts and rates with vendors and international freight providers.
    • Track shipments to guarantee timely and safe arrivals.
    • Oversee inventory levels and warehouse functions to support transportation activities.
    • Analyze transportation data to identify improvement areas and cost-saving opportunities.
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
    • Collaborate with other departments to meet customer demands and business goals.
    • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to drive operational enhancements.
    • Manage transportation budgets to meet financial objectives.


    Requirements:

    • Preferred Bachelor's degree.
    • 3+ years of logistics and transportation management experience in a global setting.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business software.
    • Demonstrated vendor management expertise.
    • Analytical, organized, and customer-oriented.
    • Strong communication skills in English.
    • Ability to build and maintain vendor relationships.
    • Pragmatic, energetic, and motivated.
