The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician in the Animal Health Laboratory located in Boise.
This job announcement is closing June 1 at 11:59p.m. Incumbent must pass and obtain certification in Brucella testing.This position will require the incumbent to perform specialized and routine standardized biological laboratory extractions and analyses on a variety of matrices.
Duties may involve working with toxic, volatile, corrosive chemicals, and carcinogenic substances. An initial blood draw for antibody titer checks will be required, additional blood draws may be required. This position works from approximately 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; however, due to the workload the schedule may vary.Example of Duties Following are examples of duties performed for the current opening in the Animal Health Lab at the Idaho State Department of Agriculture:
Prepares bovine or other animal blood samples for testing. Assists in testing of blood and milk samples for brucellosis (requires certification). Assists in routine examination of samples (may require certification). Assists in mail distribution internally and mailing packages from labs. Result entry. Assists in lab cleaning. Assists in other microbiology, serology, virology, and molecular labs.
Minimum Qualifications These qualifications are mandatory requirements Good knowledge of laboratory terminology, equipment, materials, and procedures, and the fundamental laboratory methods relating to chemistry or biology.
Experience:
o Performing standardized laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures; o Calculating and recording test results; o Maintaining a clean, sterile, and safe laboratory environment
