DESCRIPTION:

Duties include assisting with activities of daily living: feeding, bathing, ambulating, and taking vital signs. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with patients, staff, and other disciplines in a constructive, professional, and therapeutic manner.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Three (3) years of related experience providing patient care and observation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year or greater experience working with vulnerable and behavioral highrisk populations, specifically the cognitively impaired or those suffering from psychiatric disorders.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
  • Commitment to complete UCSD CPI/behavioral management/deescalation training within 6 months of hire date.
  • Demonstrated ability to empathize with and understand the perspectives of others, even in difficult or challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and express oneself clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Prior experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
  • Experience in caring for cognitively impaired, acute and chronic psychiatric illness and/ or substance abuse comorbidities.
  • CPI training and/or deescalation experience.
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • New hires who fail to complete initial training requirements will be released from employment.

Annual Full Pay Range:
$68,883 - $68,883 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)


Hourly Equivalent:
$ $32.99

The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
