***: Under the direction and supervision of the Parks Director or Crew Leader this position will perform work as needed to maintain the grounds, equipment and facilities of the Parks and Recreation Department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uses various hand tools in the planting, removal and maintenance of trees, shrubs, flowers and turf;
• Assists in the installation of and repairs to recreation equipment;
• Mowing and landscaping of parks and grounds;
• Operates lawn mowers, small tractors, pneumatic and electric tools as needed to accomplish the maintenance and repair of park equipment and facilities;
• Assists with the maintenance of the swimming pool and associated facilities;
• Uses various small equipment such as push mowers, edgers, weed eaters, tillers, chainsaws, etc ;
• Driving a cityowned vehicle and/or large equipment;
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Some knowledge of equipment and methods used in the general maintenance of parks and recreational facilities;
• Ability to understand written or verbal job instructions;
• Ability to communicate with coworkers, residents and others

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Some experience in Parks Maintenance, landscaping, facilities management/maintenance preferred
• Valid Texas Driver's License with clean driving record.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This position will require the ability to climb, crawl, kneel, squat, twist, stoop and stretch for extended periods while performing maintenance tasks; ability to safely lift, push, pull, drag up to 100 pounds; requires occasional work in tight spaces; will be required to work indoors and outdoors in all forms of extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc ); exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals and other hazards with appropriate PPE.

Pay:
From $16.00 per hour
