    Description
    Duties
    • Assists the Assistant Director in reviewing business-related and facility operations documents overseeing the FOS Operations by tracking contract task assignments, auditing invoices. Screens publications, directives, and periodicals; and brings issuances of significance to the supervisor's attention.
    • Attends and records the minutes at meetings, summarizes points and issues discussed, distributes the minutes, and follows up on commitments.
    • Assists facilities operations staff with utilizing FDIC's finance system (NFE), SharePoint site, and other software applications that support staff by reviewing and making recommendations for all financial transaction requests, business process improvements, standard operational procedures, and document reviews.
    • Assists in the preparation of standard operating procedures (SOP's) for various FOS business-related topics.
    • Maintains and revises the office filing system. Collects program information from technical specialists, enters it into electronic or manual information systems, and searches for it as requested; and, enters and retrieves information from a variety of systems.
    • Maintains various automated databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of office activities and operations.

        After successful completion of the program requirements and based on FDIC's needs, the selectees may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position based upon an evaluation of performance, completion of at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program. However, service in the FDIC Pathways Internship Program confers no right to further employment in the competitive or excepted service.

        Qualifications

        You must meet the eligibility and qualifications by the closing date of the announcement. To be found eligible for this program, applicants must: (1) be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis; (2) have a minimum cumulative (overall) GPA of 2.50 out of 4.0; (3) be in good academic standing; and (4) meet graduation requirement as stated in the Clarification from Agency section. Education requirements are established by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and must be met by close of announcement. Below are the requirements by grade:

        Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here .

        CG- 7: To qualify, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
      • Education: Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR
      • Superior Academic Achievement: Superior Academic Achievement and completion of a bachelor's degree (see details below) OR
      • Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-5 grade level as described below OR
      • Combinations of education and experience: A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
        Specialized experience includes conducting research and analysis of business-related data, directives, and policies for reports; utilization of software applications to create presentations, draft plans, outlines, agendas, schedules, briefing materials, meeting notes and reports; and technical support for document reviews and establishment/maintenance of files.

        To qualify for SAA, applicants must have met one of the following:

        1. A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.

        2. A grade-point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.

        3. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, University or major subdivision.

        4. Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.

        Additional information

        Interns will be offered a salary at the base pay for the grade in which they are qualified and selected:
        CG-7 - $61,586

        Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office at least 1 day per pay period beginning January 2, 2024, and at their supervisor's direction to support mission and project needs. In person
        reporting requirements are expected to increase in July 2024.

        After successful completion of the program requirements and based on FDIC's needs, the selectees may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position. To be eligible for conversion to the competitive service, you must complete 640 hours of work experience (up to 320 hours may be waived based on successful performance in the position and a 3.45 overall GPA); meet the OPM qualification standards for the target position; and meet the requirements of the FDIC Pathways Agreement. Service in the Pathways Internship Program confers no right to further employment.

        If selected, you may be required to serve a trial period.

        All selectees must sign an FDIC Pathways Internship Participant Agreement.
