Director of Food Services Responsibilities**- Evaluate and periodically re-evaluate the menus in order to meet the nutritional requirement needs of the youth
- Conduct Quarterly food service surveys with youth in care in order to maintain culturally sensitive to the youth's needs
- Work with all food vendors and cafeteria staff in order to evaluate cost efficiency in the meal services
- Supervise a staff of five kitchen workers
- Responsible for direction and administration of personnel issues, inventory planning, addressing daily operational matters, and to serve as a liaison with facility and program leadership on site.
- Oversee and manage day to day operations of the Food Services department.
- Prepare work schedules, assign duties, and check for staffing coverage and adherence to schedules to ensure that meals are provided timely
- Report on staffing, inventory, equipment maintenance, and compliance as requested
- Maintain documentation, records, and reports to ensure that the minimum regulatory requirements are met for oversight agencies (e.g. NYC DOHMH, OCFS, New York State Child Nutrition)
- Ensure adequate meal production for children for day students and staff
- Maintain records of staff training requirements, certificates, and other required documents
- Manage time and leave and evaluating staff performance in accordance with Agency policies
- Communicate with vendors to plan for and resolve issues related to ordering and deliveries
- Supervise the inspection, maintenance, and sanitation of the kitchen and food conveying equipment
- Establish controls to ensure that the rules and regulations set by the department and the institution are adhered to by the food service staff
- Develop new policies and procedures for the Program Services, Food Service Unit, while managing and evaluating existing policies
Requirement:
- Ability to speak, read, and writes English fluently, which allows full communication with agency staff and 3rd parties.
- Working knowledge of computer system, spreadsheet, and word processing software (Excel and Word).
- Possess a valid driver license with a driving record acceptable to CHK's insurance carrier and possess the ability to drive agency vehicles to other agency sites and places for training purposes.
- AS Food Service Administration
- Or Registered dietician or Nutritionist
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in food service and/or management

The Children's Home of Kingston's school, Grove St Academy, is a NYSED Certified 853 special education school located on the campus of the Children's Home of Kingston in Kingston, NY.
We use a Trauma System Therapy approach throughout the campus and provide the students and their families with a system of support and interventions that are not available within the public education sectors.
