Cleveland Clinic is recognized as one of the top hospitals in the nation. At Akron General, we strive for patient-centered care and comfort with our collaborative team of healthcare professionals. We are committed to serving the community and treat our patients as family.

    • The Forensic/SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) unit at Cleveland Clinic Akron General is staffed by nurses who are specially trained to care for individuals of all ages who have experienced or witnessed any type of violence. This violence may include sexual assault, child abuse, interpersonal violence, elder abuse or human trafficking. Our services are offered 24/7.

    • Evidence collection and photo documentation are also available and offered to our patients. Forensic nurses can facilitate law enforcement involvement. The nurses are knowledgeable of mandated reporting laws and can provide legal testimony as requested.
    • Staff work with members of the multidisciplinary team within the hospital setting and within the community to provide enhanced follow up services and resources. Safety plans are discussed and implemented before the patient is discharged.
