    Position Overview:


    Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join the Business Support Services team as a Buyer-Team Lead.

    This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a challenging work environment and is passionate about strategic procurement and vendor management.

    The Buyer-Team Lead will play a pivotal role in sourcing goods, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with procurement procedures to obtain the best value for the university.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiations to establish a robust vendor base.

    Conduct market research and track vendor performance to identify capable suppliers.

    Mentor and coach junior-level buyers to enhance their skills and performance.

    Provide training on procurement requirements to staff at all levels.

    Prepare documentation for purchases to ensure compliance with procurement procedures.

    Administer the Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

    Oversee the entire order process, from initiating purchase orders to processing invoices.

    Qualifications

    :


    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or vendor management.

    Proven track record of negotiating contracts and obtaining cost savings.

    Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices.

    Certification in procurement (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.
