We are seeking a Quality Engineer

This is a technical role, but communication skills are paramount for success. Experience is required in reading and interpreting machining drawings, machining specs, material selection, gathering outside processing quotations, and supplier knowledge.

Overview

A successful individual in this position must have these qualities:

Strong experience in CNC machining and CNC turning centers,
Estimating position for a minimum of 4 years,
Manufacturing Engineer in machine shop environment for minimum of 2 years.
Strong written and verbal communication
Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.

Be able to work independently and collaboratively,
Able to constantly gain new knowledge and able to bring good ideas to improve our program.

Technical Duties and Requirements

Supporting manufacturing operations to maintain highest level of productivity and quality possible.
Evaluating and methodizing a product or assembly using drawings, military specifications, and documentation that are used in fabrication and production of military mechanical products.
Performing capacity analysis for the machine shop to ensure optimal production rates.
Selecting appropriate manufacturing tools and equipment to improve production and to help manufacture products efficiently while achieving quality and cost targets.
Communicating with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production, resolving any issues that may arise, and plan the production schedule to meet deadlines.
Understands the customer requirements, design intents, material processing time, and would be able to ensure quotes are submitted to customers in a timely manner.
Able to determine correct material types, quotes on materials, and outside special processing requirements from suppliers.
Suggests, evaluates, implements & manages multiple manufacturing projects of a large scope from beginning to end utilizing knowledge of machining processes and equipment.
Validates and implement insourcing activities including quoting, routing, fixturing, processing, first article inspection, capability, etc.
Maintains knowledge base of latest machine tool technologies.
Set up and run parts on CNC mills/lathes and various other machine shop equipment.
Looks for opportunity to eliminate non-conformance or frequent production errors.
Ensures all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately and comply with all procedures within the company security policy.
Supports safety and environmental practices.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Experience supporting a production machine shop.
Strong background in understanding CNC machining processes for multi axis milling and turning technology.
Knowledge of drawings and specifications for LOCKHEED, BOEING, and SPACEX preferred.
Experience with write and prove out CNC programs (G/M code); write and prove out programs in CAD/CAM preferred.
Experience with CAD, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and a strong understanding of programming processes (NC/CMM/PLC).
Experience with ERP software (Visual preferred)
Experience with Prime contractor portals such as Exostar
ITAR Requirements & U.S. Citizenship

Education & Experience

Minimum 4 years of estimating/quoting experience in a machine shop environment.
Aerospace/Defense (ISO/AS9100) and Medical Industry experience is desirable.
Proven technical writing skills.
Inside sales experience is a plus
High school degree or GED at a minimum
Associate degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred.
