Job Summary


The purpose of this basic entry level position is to perform simple work assignments involving supervision oversite to determine course of action consistent with established functional and organization's policies and tax code.

This position requires familiarity of basic concepts in functional area to perform routine work activities with regular supervision. Typically, will interface with departmental staff and commitment to customer service is important.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities (Broad responsibilities that are consistent across job families)

  • Demonstrate commitment to providing excellent public service.
  • Provide clerical and administrative assistance to support department.
  • Assist other work groups within the District based on workloads at any given time.
  • Greet visitors and callers, route and resolve information requests.
  • Keep team and supervisor informed regarding the progress and status of work activities.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain ownership and mailing address information for the HCAD records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Responsibilities (Division specific responsibilities)


BIPD:

  • Input values provided by all business and personal property owners in Harris County.
  • Index and process documents in BIPD Support Visiflow queues.
  • Decipher basic chain store renditions that report basic assets listings.
  • Perform proper maintenance in the vehicle pool.
  • Research tangible systems and run DMV's to determine which accounts exist and/or need to be added to the tax roll.
  • Provide technical, clerical and administrative assistance regarding renditions, special valuation and hearings.
  • Communicate related procedures to HCAD personnel.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports and manuals.
  • Perform account research in processing basic ownership changes.
  • Use HCAD's computer system, both real and personal property.
  • Purchase and manage supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate office and/or department operations.
  • Keep daily production report.
  • Research and return mail and update records.
Minimum Requirements


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent.


WORK EXPERIENCE
2 years of related work experience in customer service

Working Conditions and Physical & Mental Abilities

  • Positions in this class typically require repetitive motions, sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time in an office setting.
  • Position requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment with ability to effectively communicate by phone with coworkers or face to face.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pound file boxes.
  • The position requires considerable concentration and ability to manage time effectively.
