- MS in an aerospace related field, preferably Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering.
- Experience and a successful track record of bringing in scientific grant funding from federal agencies and an active research portfolio in the Aerospace arena.
- Experience of actively participating and leading the working relationships between COSMIAC leadership, and aerospace, commercial and government customers across the country in government facilities.
- Experience or ability to participate in and oversee the development, expansion, and maintenance of all COSMIAC facilities/inventory, including customer real estate agreements, according to the University's strategic plan.
- Experience or ability to develop and establish Department of Defense collaboration with other university Space related organizations (internal and external to UNM).
- Experience managing and administering a diverse team of security cleared professional/technical and support staff, both directly and through lower-level managers and supervisors.
- Experience or ability to collaborate with various university financial officers on COSMIAC related projects.
- Experience or ability to manage and coordinate security clearances and all related activities with respect to Export Control and International Trafficking of Arms activities. Serves as COSMIAC point of contact to the University Export Control and Facility Security Control officers.

Position Summary
COSMIAC is actively recruiting an accomplished Executive Project Director to assume a crucial managerial role within our organization. This position requires an active research engineer who can also administer other technical projects in the field of aerospace engineering.
The Executive Project Director will oversee various aspects of COSMIAC facility and research capability expansion and collaboration with industry/federal government.
We are seeking a candidate with team building/leadership skills, the ability to effectively manage both independently and within a multidisciplinary team, and a proven track record of meeting deadlines in fast-paced commercial and government environments. Flexibility and willingness to travel to various DoD locations are also crucial for success in this role.
This position plays a pivotal role in driving research program expansion, fostering STEM activities, local community engagement, and creating opportunities for research funding. As such, the Executive Project Director will collaborate closely with the Director of COSMIAC in developing and implementing research center activities.
Given the nature of the position, candidates must hold a DOD/DOE clearance.
