Summary of Position:


The VP of Development and Strategy plays a key role at The Assistance Fund (?TAF?) in helping set and deliver the strategic objectives of the organization.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and has primary responsibilities for designing and executing overall growth/ fundraising strategy, ensuring organization sustainability.

The VP of Development and Strategy works closely with the Chief Development Officer in all development, budgeting, and fundraising endeavors and maintains a visible presence as an ambassador of TAF in the philanthropic, corporate, and nonprofit communities.

The VP of Development and Strategy leads the design and implementation of strategies to identify funding sources needed to finance the growth and development activities of the organization.

Success will be demonstrated by raising significant funds to support the existing operations and advance development programs.


Responsibilities:

The VP of Development and Strategy responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership role in driving a collaborative process with the Chief Development Officer and staff that would result in the development of strategic goals, objectives, and fundraising/development plans for the organization.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual revenue goals and longterm financial objectives.
  • Partner with the Chief Development Officer to manage hightouch relationships and stewardship of key funding sources.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to drive revenue growth and expand the organization's reach.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, partnerships, and strategic alliances that align with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Understand the strategy, competitive position, and organizational capabilities of TAF and its competitors within the charitable patient assistance landscape.
  • Build and maintain a culture of philanthropy by supporting the following pillars: inclusion, transparency, empowerment, collaboration, and celebration.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and donor preferences to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and maintain architecture for a comprehensive development program.
  • Track revenue and fundraising trends to predict future opportunities and/or downtrends in individual, corporate, or foundation gifts.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with current corporate funders and cultivate new corporate gifts in support of TAF?s programs.
  • Lead efforts in identifying and securing new individual and major donors at all levels.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Philanthropy and other relevant staff, maintain and strengthen relationships with current individual and major donors to increase gift size, frequency, and retention through social media, online, and direct mail streams.
  • Lead efforts to identify and secure new foundation/grant support, including outreach and presentations to prospective funders about TAF?s current programs and future projects.
  • Cultivate new and existing relationships with partner and funder organizations at the senior level and contribute to the expansion of programmatic funding opportunities.
  • Ensure that donor agreements and donor reports are reviewed and distributed as applicable to TAF?s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OIG guidelines in all communications with donors and prospective donors.
  • Maintain fundraising and customer relationship management software (e.g. Salesforce, Elevate, Stelter, Double the Donation, Match360).
  • Manage and strengthen development processes and systems, including gift entry and acknowledgments.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to fundraising staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation to achieve departmental goals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing fundraising and business development activities.
  • Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and meetings to build awareness, foster relationships, and solicit support.
  • Adhere to the principles of ethics and standard practices set forth by the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure that spending and budgeting support business objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
