About Us:


Arabesque Conservatory of Music is excited to introduce a new program designed to offer poker instruction tailored specifically for adults with special needs.

Our initiative is focused on enhancing cognitive skills, decision-making abilities, and social interaction through the strategic game of poker.

We are looking for experienced, patient, and skilled Poker Instructors to provide personalized, in-home poker lessons on a contract basis.


Position Overview:


As an In-Home Poker Instructor with Arabesque Conservatory of Music, you will deliver one-on-one poker lessons to adults with special needs, directly in their homes.

This role involves teaching the fundamentals of poker, including rules, strategies, betting techniques, and game etiquette, while adapting to the unique abilities and learning styles of each student.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assess each student's understanding of the game, cognitive abilities, and goals to develop customized poker training programs.
  • Teach various aspects of poker, including hand rankings, betting rounds, and strategic play, using methods that accommodate the student's learning needs and preferences.
  • Provide supportive, engaging, and adaptive instruction to foster enjoyment and confidence in playing poker.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching plans and methods as necessary to optimize learning and engagement.
  • Maintain regular communication with family members or caregivers to provide updates on progress and discuss strategies for reinforcing poker skills during social activities.
  • Ensure a safe and conducive learning environment, focusing on cognitive stimulation and social interaction through the game.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience as a Poker Instructor, with a strong ability to teach the game's technical aspects and strategic nuances.
  • Previous experience working with adults with special needs, demonstrating patience, understanding, and effective communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • A commitment to providing adaptive, inclusive instruction that meets the needs of individuals with various cognitive and physical abilities.
  • Must have reliable transportation for inhome visits.
  • Available to commit to a contract position with flexible scheduling based on client needs.
