The Contracts and Grants Writer/Analyst reports directly to the Director of Fund Development and uses their skills as a seasoned grants administrator to independently develop and oversee grant proposals, awards, and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional funder policies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires a thorough understanding of complex regulations.
- Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve program managers and/or multiple subawards.
- Works on grants and contracts, which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators and multiple sub awards.
- Completes and approves transactions for signature.
- Completes any required forecasts, budget analyses and reports of activities.
- Completes any required forecasts, budget analyses and reports of activities in support of transactions and decisionmaking efforts in their specialty area.
- Uses contract administration skills and experience to draft and issue complex or customized contracts.
- Aids in the interpretation of contract language and guidance from MCM policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in grants and contracts administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Proficient in researching, writing, and submitting funding proposals clearly, concisely, and compellingly to government, foundations, and other funding entities.
- Experienced in professional writing, proposal writing, and/or other applicable products, collaborating with organizational staff.
- Understanding of contracting principles and practices, competitive procurement methods, value analysis, and source selection techniques.
- Familiarity with economic and general accounting principles and practices.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for MCM's mission
- Customer service orientation with the capacity to engage diverse constituencies.
- Skillful in interpreting policy for others.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks accurately and with attention to detail while meeting firm deadlines.
- Exceptional written communication skills, including compiling data, producing reports, drafting formal documents, and writing correspondence.
- Understanding of contract law, the California Public Contract Code, Inflation Reduction Act direct pay.
- Basic comprehension of risk management, seismic, fire, other life safety, and ADA compliance issues.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and use a computer
- This is a regular, parttime, nonexempt position. Work may be performed remotely.
