:VNA Hospice of NWI is seeking:
Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Part-time 24 hours per week
SUMMARY:
- The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements the volunteer program for Hospice, including retention, marketing, and scheduling of volunteers.
Program Management Activities:
- Communicates effectively with staff and volunteers to ensure that volunteers are utilized as an integral part of the Hospice team.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates programs for recruiting and training volunteers.
- Interviews, screens, and evaluates all volunteer applicants.
- Responsible for the coordination of orientation and training of volunteers with input and help for the Hospice team and conducts the training program.
- Responsible for creating regularly scheduled monthly volunteer newsletters and distributes for mailing.
- Assists Human Resource Department in maintaining an uptodate personnel file including current medical file on each volunteer ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. Notifies volunteers in a timely manner when documentation is required.
- Develops and implements volunteer policies and procedures which complement the agency and promote volunteer commitment.
- Assists Accounting Department who provides annual reports for volunteer service by collecting data and identifying goals. Establishes and develops systems for data collection.
- Represents agency in community activities and organizations as appropriate.
Volunteer Assignment and Supervision Activities:
- Provides ongoing meetings and educational activities for volunteers for the purpose of support, problemsolving, and continuing education.
- Assigns volunteers to patients and clerical/administrative functions in coordination with staff. Ensures effective utilization of volunteers by assigning volunteers to meet programs needs with consideration of individual skills, knowledge, and desire.
- Participates in team conference/Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and establishes a volunteer plan of care for each patient/family.
- Maintains a regular communication linkage with volunteers by monitoring their placement and by providing individual conferences, meetings, and special programs.
- Assists in supervising volunteers in all special projects and fundraising efforts, i.e., memorial services, bereavement reunion dinner, annual volunteer recognition dinner, etc.
- Previous volunteer work and supervisory experience preferred.
