Starting wage $18.00 per hour + 20 cents shift premium for 2nd shift hours

The School District of Whitefish Bay has an opening for a full-time Custodian II to work 2nd shift. The building location needs to be determined based on completion of internal transfers. This is a 12-month, benefit eligible position.


WORK HOURS:
2nd Shift, Monday-Friday 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

During the summer and a variation of non-school days (winter break, spring break, etc.) this position may be assigned 1st shift hours.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Dust, mop, strip and wax floors, hallways and stairs.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpeting.
  • Sweep, clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, showers and locker rooms, as required.
  • Clean, dust and polish furniture and woodwork.
  • Move and deliver furniture, equipment, supplies and UPS packages, as required.
  • Perform minor maintenance to buildings and equipment.
  • Lock and unlock buildings and classrooms.
  • Load and unload supplies and materials.
  • Basic understanding, operation and maintenance of boilers and heating systems.
  • Police grounds adjacent to buildings including athletic and playground areas.
  • Submit work orders to immediate supervisor for equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Sweep debris from entrances and adjacent areas, including the walkways from the sidewalk to the door entrance.
  • Setting up and taking down stage extensions
  • Perform other custodial responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successfully complete pre-employment District guidelines related to background check, physical, TB test, and lift test requirements.

  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks requiring considerable physical stamina.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning materials and methods.
  • Working knowledge of the operation and care of custodial and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with hand tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective public and coworker relationships.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the operations and maintenance of boilers and heating systems.
  • High school and/or technical school graduation or equivalent.
  • One or more years experience within a custodial environment with a sound understanding of custodial services and equipment preferred.
