Description
GENERAL STATEMENTUnder the direction of full-time ASI HR staff, the Human Resources Operations Assistant provides administrative assistance in support of the Human Resources department. The incumbent is tasked with administrative duties relating to many HR functions and may be assigned special projects in a variety of areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Serves as the first point of contact for the human resources office. Answers telephone calls, routes calls to appropriate staff and monitors shared email inboxes for inquiries. Provides general information regarding job openings and other routine human resources questions.
2. Assists with the processing and filing of forms for employee personnel files. Organizes HR documents in storage and maintains organization among physical and digital office files.
3. Enters data into the human resources information system (HRIS). Tasks include standard data entry processes and ad-hoc projects to audit data quality.
4. Assists with the facilitation of onboarding activities for new staff. Processes and files forms, enters data into appropriate systems, prepares name badges for student employees, and serves as a back-up for facilitating new hire orientations.
5. Assists ASI HR staff with the development of communications and other administrative/clerical tasks that supports employee relations and the office's operational responsibilities.
6. Undertakes special projects as assigned. Projects may include research, writing/copyediting, and data reconciliation
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
One year of previous work experience in any environment is preferred, but no previous experience or specific educational background is required.
Knowledge and Abilities
Concurrent enrollment in six or more units at CSULB.
