    Position: Preschool Student Assistant Teacher

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Preschool Student Assistant Teacher for the upcoming Fall Semester. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing safe and nurturing care, guidance, and supervision to children. Let's dive into the details:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Establishes relationships and engages with children personally.
      •Knows each child by name.
      •Provides top-notch care and supervision.
      •Builds respectful and trusting relationships.
      •Understands and accepts children's diverse emotions and needs.
      •Collaborates with colleagues to meet children's individual requirements.
      •Demonstrates good judgment and seeks guidance when needed.
      •Develops effective communication and guidance skills.
      •Becomes familiar with anti-bias principles.
      •Ensures compliance with Program Philosophy and Goals for Children.
    • Develops teamwork and communication skills.
      •Establishes positive relationships based on support and reliability.
      •Communicates effectively with team members regarding caregiving tasks.
      •Reports incidents promptly to supervisors.
      •Assists in various tasks as needed.
      •Shows willingness to collaborate and solve problems.
      •Communicates purchasing needs in a timely manner.
      •Adheres to personnel policies regarding absences and time off.
    • Creates a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment.
      •Conducts wellness checks at the beginning of each shift.
      •Ensures ongoing safety and health inspections.
      •Follows emergency procedures diligently.
      •Reports incidents and maintains accurate records.
      •Obtains relevant certifications for emergency situations.
      •Understands dietary requirements during meal times.
    • Engages in personal growth and program development.
      •Participates in team meetings and retreats.
      •Shows initiative in learning program goals and methods.
      •Contributes to staff training and orientation.
      •Involves parents in fundraising and program events.
      •Attends events to support the program.
    • Builds strong relationships with parents.
      •Welcomes and interacts with parents respectfully.
      •Addresses parental concerns to the appropriate channels.
      •Assists parents during drop off and pick up times.
    • Plans and executes engaging activities with children.
      •Learns to plan and present educational activities.
      •Focuses on learning experiences rather than end results.
    • Observes children and maintains detailed records.
      •Learns to write meaningful observations.
      •Begins producing accurate child observations.
    • Manages records and reports efficiently.
      •Completes paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
      •Fills out reports and checklists as required.
      •Follows opening and closing procedures diligently.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This role does not involve supervisory duties.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and/or Experience:
    Enrollment at California State University, Long Beach in at least six units with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. No prior work experience necessary. Minimum age requirement is 18.

    Knowledge and Abilities:
    Understanding of Associated Students' programs and services. Proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics. Ability to build rapport with children and handle multiple tasks efficiently.

    Other Qualifications:
    Fingerprint clearance, routine physical exams, immunization records, and annual flu shots required. Certification in Pediatric CPR and Child Care First Aide is a plus.
