    \\ Position Summary:

    \\The Network Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining andtroubleshooting the state data, voice, video, and wireless networks.

    This position is governed by state and federal laws andagency/institution policy\\ Duties & Responsibilities:
    \\
    Perform a wide range of network administration duties includinginstallations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general supportfor Cisco, HP, and Extreme network equipment
    Evaluate, test, and deploy software and hardware upgrades to thenetworking infrastructure
    Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheralnetwork devices, which will require continuous learning of newdevices
    Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and serversusing a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA\'s
    Collect and review network utilization data for capacity andplanning purposes
    Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintainingdisaster recovery plans
    Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all ITinfrastructures
    Manage & troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughoutthe organization
    Work closely with the fellow tech team members to provide end-usersupport and issue resolution
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and technologies
    Research, evaluate and recommend technologies to support businessrequirements
    Create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures
    Collaborate with and support the work of other staff engaged insimilar functions
    Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
    Coordinate with the rest of the Communications Services team to meetthe team objectives including VOIP and Campus Security Cameras
    Perform other duties as assigned
    \\ Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    \\Strong knowledge of general networking and best practices\Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issuesindependently\Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed\Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levelsof the organization\Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internalinformation\Willingness and ability to work from ladders and scaffolding, includingheights up to 20\', indoors and outdoors\Ability to carry equipment up to 50 lbs\\ General Days/Hours: \\Monday - Friday\8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.\Additional hours as requested and/or needed\Regular and reliable attendance\\Provide emergency 24 x 7 on-call support on a rotating basis\\ Other: \\Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M.
