Primary Purpose:

Identify the IS requirements of all departments and coordinate the design and implementation of all IS projects. Manage the Steering Committee. Create IS project specifications, schedules, and resource requirements for all IS design-build projects.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prioritize, plan and coordinate project development activities consistent with department requirements.
  • Act as the primary contact for project development questions and requirements.
  • Prepare project proposals and develop a project plan including required resources, scheduling, and milestones for completion.
  • Research and monitor ongoing industry developments and identify potential new technologies.
  • Supervise project development team and ensure that completion of assigned projects meet company deadlines.
  • Work with other departments to establish design, technology, product development, and user strategies.
  • Develop, assist, and support in the implementation of short term and long term project proposals.
  • Be available as an information and technology resource for others in the IS department.
  • Manage and coordinate the weekly project development team meetings regarding project status, resources, and other IS needs.
  • Prepare and distribute project development team meeting minutes.
  • Design new software programs by analyzing system requirements including creating workflow charts and diagrams and writing functional specifications.
  • Oversee the Coding PI Support System, including database management, data integrity, reporting, user training, and program maintenance.
  • Expand technical knowledge and management capabilities by attending workshops, seminars, and conferences related to the medical information management industry.

  • Must work well both independently and in a team setting.
  • Requires ability to perform a variety of complex tasks requiring exercise of independent judgment.
  • Requires strong attention to detail and the ability to stay focused while working on a project.
  • Must be able to work on several projects at a time.
  • Requires the ability to speak, read, write and understand English and other general educational skills.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences, or a related field is required.
  • Requires the ability to read and understand provider contracts and health plan benefit documents.
  • Requires a basic understanding of medical terms, practices and coding (CPT, HCPCs, ICD9, Revenue, etc).
