Responsibilities

Program Overview

Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is a proven therapeutic approach designed to deliver community-based intervention for juvenile individuals either involved in or at risk of entering the juvenile justice system. By addressing various factors influencing their behavior within different environments, MST aims to support youths aged 12 to 17 in their natural surroundings. As an MST Family Counselor, your role involves engaging primary caregivers and other involved parties in creating and implementing strategies to enhance school performance, reduce substance use, cultivate positive relationships, and enhance family dynamics.

Position Overview

Manage a caseload of 4-5 families, meeting with each family at least three times weekly
Develop personalized treatment plans for each case and conduct regular assessments to monitor progress
Maintain accurate documentation using web-based platforms and voice recognition tools
Offer after-hours support through a rotating on-call schedule
Travel up to 60-80 miles to conduct home visits
Provide in-home treatment in diverse settings and communities
Collaborate with licensed MST professionals for clinical supervision and progress reviews
Establish strong community connections to support families during treatment

Additional Information

The schedule is flexible and adapted to the availability of the youth and families being served. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, personal vehicle for work purposes, and auto insurance. Mileage expenses for Community Based staff are reimbursed.

Salary

$58,000 per year, dependent on education and clinical credentials.

Qualifications

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in a social services field is mandatory, while a Master's degree is preferred. Acceptable degrees include social work, psychology, guidance counseling, or similar fields. Experience in working with at-risk youth or families, whether through volunteer work, internships, or paid positions, is highly regarded. A willingness to maintain a non-traditional work schedule and strong writing abilities are essential. Additionally, candidates need a satisfactory driving record with three or fewer moving violations in the past 36 months.
