Description

The Licensed Drug And Alcohol Counselor provides treatment and support to assist patients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.

• Participates in patient treatment planning and continuum of care for patients with co-occurring and/or diagnosed substance use disorders.
• Conducts or co-facilitates group and/or family sessions related to substance use disorder and/or chemical dependency, as scheduled and documents as required.
• Conducts initial assessments related to substance use disorder and/or chemical dependency, as well as follow up assessments for patients.
• Prepares individual treatment plan for each assigned patient related to substance use and/or diagnosed substance use disorders
• Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
• Acts as a liaison between referral sources and patients.
• Provides crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
• Plans for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care.
• Evaluates the need of the patient and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed.
• Provides patient and family education relative to substance use disorders.
• Conducts educational workshops both within the facility and in the community as required.
• Serves as a liaison with self-help groups.
• Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the Hospital treatment programs.
• Assists in the training of new clinical staff and interns, providing direction and education related to patients with substance use disorders.
• Coordinates the activities of other clinical and direct patient care staff, providing direction and clinical guidance within the scope of practice of Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors.

• Bachelor's degree in social or health services field from an accredited college or university required. Master's degree in the same field preferred.
• One or more years' experience in counseling field required.

• Licensure obtained through the State Board for Alcohol and Drug Counselors in which the facility operates.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
