    Job Summary

    Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Investment Officer, the Senior Investment Officer assists in leading, coordinating and managing investments within the Teachers Retirement System Global Income Strategies portfolio.

    This role requires a comprehensive understanding of overarching investment principles, with a specific focus on areas such as private credit, low duration, core and core plus, emerging market debt, and global multi-sector credit investments. The incumbent should excel in functioning under pressure. The individual holds accountability for overseeing the entire asset class portfolio, including $16.4 billion in assets, with $3 billion of those assets being allocated to diverse and emerging managers. Additionally, the responsibilities encompass assigning and assessing the work of direct reports, conducting annual performance evaluations, and implementing corrective measures when needed, as well as addressing employee concerns and feedback with a thoughtful approach.

    The incumbent must be able to work effectively with senior Investments staff and the Systems Board of Trustees, conduct thorough analysis and due diligence on current and prospective investment opportunities, and produce quantifiable portfolio recommendations supported by this research. Superior oral and written communication skills are essential.

    Proactively research investment approaches, asset mixes, and portfolio management techniques to provide potential incremental return to TRSs individual assets and at the total fund level.

    Negotiate and interact at the highest level with outside managers and entities in cooperation with departmental leadership.

    Provide leadership and support within TRS internal oversight committees utilizing investment acumen broadly across the entire TRS investment portfolio.

    Represent TRS on partnership advisory panels and at industry conferences.

    Manage internal review documentation and provide logistical leadership for the relevant oversight committee and/or investment committee.

    Assist investment personnel within the emerging managers group in preparing analyses, due diligence, evaluations, and proposals for administering emerging manager investment activity.

    Continue professional development, as prudent.

    Perform other duties as assigned or required.

    Minimum Requirements

    Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or related field

    Minimum of five (5) years of investment experience, preferably with demonstrated growth responsibilities working with global income investments.

    Preferred Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter or credible progress toward earning the CFA designation
