Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration (DFA), the Financial Administrator performs a variety of financial and administrative duties.

This position will be mainly responsible for assisting with management of the center budget, pre
- and post
- award grant administration for external funding, processing financial transactions, placing orders, monitoring salary distributions, performing account reconciliations and preparing financial reports. As needed, this position will also provide operations support including managing the office and coordinating event logistics.

  • Tasks will include: _
  • Providing oversight of financial functions and business operations for IGS.
  • Manages the daytoday financial operations, completes monthly reconciliation, prepares quarterly reports, assists with fiscal year closing and performs various financial analysis.
  • Strategizes with DFA on resource and personnel allocations, recommends process improvements, and resolves issues related to funding.
  • Assisting with preaward submission process, which includes developing the budgets, assessing and completing the correct forms for several different granting agencies, obtaining the correct university approvals, and meeting grant deadlines.
  • Helping manage the postaward financial process, which includes allocating and tracking the budget, reconciling the budget and forecasting for the life of the grant to ensure budgets are not over or under expended, and processing any necessary financial adjustments.
  • Also responsible for preparation of interim and final reports and other award administration activities.
  • Responsible for coordinating accounts payable matters for center all funds (unrestricted and restricted budgets).
  • Placing orders and processing purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment, completing internal service requests, and assisting with travel and business expense reports.
  • Serves as a liaison with Accounts Payable and Sourcing/ Procurement to troubleshoot issues.
  • Administrator will have a BU Procurement card and will use this to procure goods and services in accordance with university policies.
  • Assisting with the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for interns, temporary employees, and student hires.
  • Managing front desk students.
  • Serving as the payroll coordinator for student employment and other tasks as needed.
  • Working on miscellaneous tasks and special projects, such as gathering and tracking annual report data, managing event logistics, and other ad hoc projects as needed.

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree, with 3-5 years experience. This position is based in Boston and requires an in-person presence mínimally three days per week.
