Description
The Senior Account Manager is responsible for revenue retention and client policy growth - client expansion - on their assigned book of business, which includes assisting producers and team with prospecting and on-boarding new clients.
The qualified candidate must have strong knowledge across the spectrum of employer-sponsored health & welfare related plans, including federal and state regulations that impact these plans.
Ideally the qualified candidate also has a minimum 3-5 years in the group benefits space inclusive of self-funded and stop loss experience on groups of 100+ employees.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Subject matter expert on Health & Welfare Benefits, vendor/carrier products and services including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntaryManage a book of business of approximately $800,000 - $1,000,000 in revenue (client mix of middle and large sized employees) and a mix of fully insured and self-insured plans)Develop and maintain strong relationships with reference-ready clients, prospects, and carriersKeep clients apprised of appropriate industry trends and events, including all state and federal regulatory issuesProactively anticipate client needs and bring forward strategies to address their challengesUnderstand and utilize Risk Strategies resources and tools to maximize efficiencyProject manage book of business including planning, delegating, and meeting deliverable timingUnderstand fundamental underwriting concepts in order to communicate funding alternatives, impact to rates, and cost driversManage request for proposals and renewals - negotiate with carriers and make recommendations to clientOversee open enrollment process for clientsAttend client meetings to support stewardship, renewal planning, and open enrollment deliverablesEnsure client is fully compliant with all regulations to which they are subjectAccountability for all work product provided to client across the book of business, including ensuring client updates are made within appropriate software (e.g.
BA/BS preferredLife, Accident and Health Insurance License required5+ years of health & welfare experience, meets, or exceeds, core practice competency-based skillsClient-facing experience in the employee benefit industryGBA or CEBS Certification a plus but not requiredProven ability to connect with others, foster a team environment, and work in a hybrid model with some in-office time, remote time, and client-facing meetings per business needsPhysical Demands and Work Environment
