- Comprehensive knowledge of the ASCA National Model, school counseling, and comprehensive school counseling programs;
- Considerable knowledge of current local, state, national, and global trends in school counseling;
- Comprehensive knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)/Response to Intervention (RTI)/Behavior Interventions;
- Considerable knowledge of the maintenance, storage, and access of student records and the related policies and procedures.

- Demonstrated leadership in establishing culturally proficient systems of support for practitioners, educators, students, and parents;

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, community groups, vendors, external agencies, and the public.
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in School Counseling;
- Three years of experience as a Lead or Director of School Counseling for a school district.
- Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in School Counseling;
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements.
- Extensive experience as a School Counselor;
- Extensive experience as a District Lead/Director of School Counseling;
- Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License for School Administrator- Principal or Curriculum Instructional Specialist.
- Plans, develops, implements, manages, and evaluates a comprehensive program of National and State School Counseling Standards and NC Guidance Essential Standards.
- Leads training of School Administrators in the use of the NC School Counselor Evaluation Instrument.
- Provides culturally proficient leadership development for School Counseling.
- Establishes a culturally responsive system that addresses the needs of the whole child in promoting student success and that addresses the needs of professional school-based School Counseling staff.
- Establishes a comprehensive school counseling system that is based on data, the fidelity of implementation, continuous improvement, grounded in MTSS, and produces results reports that are grounded in appropriate and measurable process, perception, and outcome data;
- Supports the policies and procedures related to the maintenance, storage, and access of all active and archived student records;
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.

POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides oversight and management of the School Counseling program. Demonstrates program development, implementation, evaluation, and management of National and State School Counseling Standards and North Carolina (NC) Guidance Essential Standards. Leads training of School Counselors and School Administrators in the use of the NC School Counseling Evaluation Instrument.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, community groups, vendors, staff members of external funding agencies, and the public. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work requires driving automotive equipment.
