UPMC Altoona is offering a casual Patient & Family Concierge position on their T12 Cardiology Unit. The position offers flexible scheduling with a minimum requirement of 36 hours every 6 weeks. This is an excellent opportunity for students seeking an entry-level role in healthcare.The Concierge will provide service and support to patients, families, and visitors, and may assist with various tasks across the hospital.
The primary focus is on patient and guest satisfaction and quality of care. This role is a great way to gain experience in a healthcare setting.***
Responsibilities:

Destination Coordination: Welcomes patients and visitors, provides directions, disseminates patient information, manages parking, and tracks patient belongings.
Environmental Services: Cleans and organizes assigned areas, replenishes supplies, makes beds, and reports maintenance issues.

Dietary Services: Prepares and serves meals as per requirements, maintains food safety, operates food service equipment, and ensures sanitation.

Transportation Services: Transports patients, equipment, and lab specimens, maintains transportation equipment, records data, and reports activities.

Supply & Equipment Management: Manages supplies and equipment, delivers materials, stocks rooms and areas, maintains logs, and checks supply expiration dates.

General: Answers phones, responds to call lights, interacts with patients, conducts hourly rounds, distributes care plans, and prompts patient mobility. May also maintain resources depending on the unit.

Infection Control: Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures consistently when interacting with customers.

Incident Reporting: Follows mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that could have affected patient care.

Medication Access: Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.

Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times.
- High School diploma OR active High School/GED program enrollment OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
- Previous experience in health care or customer service is a plus, but not required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
