    Description

    A.Y. McDonald is looking for a Human Resources Representative to join the organization. This position will be responsible for providing HR Generalist support for processes and programs for our coworkers at our Albia, IA facility.

    The main responsibilities would include:

    • Provide excellent customer experience by responding to questions in a timely manner.
    • Effectively manage and resolveemployee relations issues through conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations as necessary in a timely and responsive manner.
    • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
    • Administer recruiting efforts for all open production positions by sourcing, screening, and interviewing applicants. Attend job fairs and cultivate relationships with local trades schools, colleges and high schools.
    • Participate in evaluation and recommendation of training programs as needed.
    • Escalate matters to respective HR team members, as needed.
    • Analyze trends and metrics in conjunction with other HR teammates to develop solutions, programs and policies.
    • Collaborate with Workers Compensation, Benefits and Leave of Absence Specialists to process and track relevant information.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years related experience in human resources required or education in a Business/Human Resources field.
    • Knowledge of HR management components including performance management, development, compensation, culture and engagement, change management, organizational design, and inclusion & diversity.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including ability to drive change and encourage innovation.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

    SUMMARY

    Directs and coordinates all Human Resources activities such as employment, compensation, co-worker relations, benefits, training, safety, workers' compensation and OSHA compliance.Compiles and maintains personnel records and plans and carries out policies relating to all phases of Human Resources activity by performing the following duties.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Sorting, scan and ID HR records into M-Files.

    Prepare and track Family Medical Leave policy. Administer notifications for FMLA eligibility or denials. Coordinate as needed with UTM administrators for timecard accuracy.

    Recruits, interviews, and selects co-workers to fill vacant positions, including temporary workers.

    Schedules appointments for physicals and other testing as needed.

    Plans and conducts new co-worker orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.

    Develops and conducts new hire and annual safety training in compliance with OSHA standards.

    Prepares written safety and health programs and manuals.

    Records and updates co-worker information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, and attendance.

    Examines co-worker files to answer inquiries and provide information to authorized persons and to prepare reports.

    Administers co-worker benefit programs such as health, dental and life insurance, 401 (K), Money Purchase Retirement Plan and Weekly Indemnity.

    Writes new and revises existing company policies and communicates changes.

    Administers payroll and attendance policy.

    Administers and assures compliance with OSHA regulations.

    Corresponds with workers' compensation carrier regarding status of work-related injury cases.

    Conducts and analyzes wage survey within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.

    Prepares co-worker separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

    Represents organization at personnel related hearings and investigations.

    Files and maintains employment records for future references and for governmental reporting purposes.

    Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state laws.

    Confers with organization personnel, supervisors, and management to facilitate effective interpersonal communication and ascertain co-worker relations and work-related problems that adversely affect co-workermorale and organization productivity.

    Evaluates co-worker relations and work-related problems and meets with supervisors and management to determine effective remediation techniques to resolve co-workerrelations issues.

    Writes, edits and compiles the company newsletter on quarterly basis.

    Plans and coordinates company sponsored activities such as luncheons, picnics and/or parties.

    Reads, analyzes and interprets professional journals, governmental regulations, state and federal laws, court decisions and legal documents.

    Maintain Key FOB system - Schedule changes, setting up fobs, changing access, etc.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Directly supervises one co-worker the HR Assistant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
