Position Description:
ZemiTek has partnered with Credence Management Solutions to form Team Credence, a multi-company partnership.

USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID/BHA) is the lead federal coordinator for international disaster assistance. USAID/BHA provides and coordinates U.S.

Government (USG) international humanitarian assistance to save lives, alleviate human suffering, and reduce the physical, social, and economic impact of rapid and slow-onset disasters by supporting at-risk populations to build stable foundations to withstand humanitarian shocks and stresses.

Team Credence, through the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance Support Contract (BHASC), provides operational and administrative support to provide and coordinate humanitarian assistance and maintain 24/7 response capability.


The TPQ One Health Veterinary Advisor supports the Office of Technical and Program Quality (TPQ) in USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID/BHA).

BHA leads and coordinates the U.S. Government's humanitarian assistance efforts overseas in response to natural disasters and complex emergencies.

The Bureau also supports early recovery efforts that restore and protect basic systems and services and invests in risk reduction programs that prevent or reduce risks associated with chronic and recurrent hazards.


TPQ requires a One Health Veterinary Advisor to meet its objectives of providing sound technical support to the global One Health humanitarian assistance portfolio.

The TPQ One Health Veterinary Advisor's day-to-day work assignments and oversight are provided by the Agriculture Team Lead, with formal supervisory and evaluation functions performed by a Credence contract supervisor.

The One Health Veterinary Advisor will be part of TPQ's Food Security and Livelihoods Division on the Agriculture Team, which includes experts in livestock, veterinary pharmaceuticals, pesticides, fisheries and aquaculture, crop agriculture, and seed systems.


Work Schedule:
Full-time, Remote (Must be US-based)


Clearance Required:
Able to obtain a secret level clearance (US citizenship required)


Travel:
Ability to travel internationally


Responsibilities:


  • Serve as a liaison between BHA and relevant One Health stakeholders to implement project activities. Facilitate regular communication, including hosting meetings and participating in site visits.
  • Support implementation of surveillance activities for zoonoses in animals with partner organizations, ensuring progress and facilitating reporting.
  • Support building capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to zoonotic diseases using One Health tools by helping organize and host consultative meetings, trainings, and other events.
  • Support development of animal surveillance systems for the detection of disease through evaluations of existing capacities, consultative meetings, and identification of new projects for investment.
  • Providing guidance to USAID and BHA staff in Washington, DC, and field offices for livestock interventions during a disaster response. Following outbreaks of zoonotic diseases, providing BHA staff with assessments and recommendations for response in both the livestock and health sectors.
  • Mapping a strategic plan for livestock interventions for USAID/BHA.
  • Working with the BHA Pharmacist to elaborate a compendium for treating livestock in disaster environments and streamlining the approval process for purchase of veterinary commodities and pharmaceuticals by nongovernmental organization (NGO) partners. This may involve travel for certification of international pharmaceutical and veterinary commodity wholesalers.
  • Supporting the formulation of, and accurately conveying the technical and policy positions of USAID/BHA relating to livestock through interactions with NGO partners, other donor agencies, the international humanitarian community, and other USAID staff working in the livestock or animal health sectors; attending meetings and other events as appropriate.
  • Serving as a leader and mentor of other livestock and agricultural staff within BHA/TPQ.
  • Reviewing and commenting on proposals submitted by NGO and United Nations partners for humanitarian
