    00 HourlyJob CategoryBehavioral Health Support StaffDescriptionSUMMARYSkills Trainers provide culturally resonant and trauma-informed services to the youth they support.

    They provide services in home, school, and community settings focusing on specific skill deficit areas that support the youth's treatment goals including, independent living skills, emotion regulation, social skills, and coping skills.

    Skills Trainers act as the youth's advocate in the Child and Family Team Setting.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide youth with community based and culturally sensitive skills training one or more times per week focusing on treatment plan goalsHelp develop formal/informal support networks for youth/families in the communities in which they residePromote greater youth participation and voice at the practice, program, and policy levels of the System of CareParticipate as the youth advocate including in Child and Family Team meetings and IEP meetingsAttend SDCC and program required trainings including training in evidence-based practices, HIPAA, and cultural competencyShow strong ethical foundation and use System of Care values in the work provided to families(individualized, strength-based, culturally competent, family focused, trauma sensitive)Maintain accurate, timely, and complete case records per Medi-Cal requirements and SDCC policies and proceduresMaintain clear, effective, and open communication between multi-disciplinary clinical staff and administrative personnel within and between Center programsUtilize supervision, consultation, and training as necessary to provide high quality services to youth in an effective mannerAvailability to work evening and weekend hours, and to be on-call as needed by the youth on their caseloadProvide transportation to youth/families as needed and as clinically appropriateMaintain full caseload, typically 10-15 active cases with 50% productivityRequired to travel between office and community locations, including client homes, in personal vehiclePerform special projects and other related duties as requiredQualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSValid California Driver's License and reliable transportationBachelor's Degree from an accredited universityGood verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary teamCommitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and to functioning through a culturally sensitive lensPREFERRED REQUIREMENTSExperience working in a program providing Wraparound services, ABA, or as educator/mentor, or experience with foster/probation youthExperience with Motivational Interviewing and Positive DisciplineTraining/experience in the area of children and familiesKnowledge of systemic racism and how it impacts the foster care systemKnowledge of basic case management skillsProficient in Cerner (electronic medical records system)Basic computer skillsBilingual English/Spanish
