As a Billing and Collections Assistant here is what you may expect:

    The Billing and Collections Assistant is responsible for supporting their team and leaders in multiple billing and collections related activities. The Billing and Collections Assistant ensures that work is properly completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of activities including handling of patient statements and payments, answering phones, documentation, data entry, and supporting all members of the Billing and Collections Team. The Billing and Collections Assistant will have contact with patients, organization leaders, and other organization members which requires strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Utilize computerized organization software programs


    • Generate and send out invoices


    • Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by telephone and email


    • Provide Customer Service Regarding collection issues, process customer refunds, process and review account adjustments. Resolve client discrepancies and short payments.


    • Monitor and maintain assigned accounts – customer calls, accounts adjustments, small balance write off, customers reconciliations and processing credit memos.


    • Maintain and complete other day to day assigned tasks - answering calls and other administrative duties.


    • Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment


    • Enlist the efforts of management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.


    • Receive Payments and post amounts paid to customer accounts


    • Negotiate Credit Extensions when necessary upon supervisor approval


    • Receive and Verify Invoices and requisitions for Services


    • Process letters, send emails, memos, and other correspondence.


    • Screen mail and forward to appropriate team member/department.


    • Communicate with members of the team to help support in general clerical duties.


    • Attend staff meetings


    • Comply with HIPAA rules and regulations. Respect patients by recognizing the rights and maintaining confidentiality.


    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.

    MINIMUM SKILLS:

    Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

    Must have at minimum proficient knowledge with Microsoft Excel and Word.

    Must have strong knowledge of phone operations, phone etiquette, filing, copying, faxing, and scanning.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.

    Ability to maintain Confidentiality

    Ability to Multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.

    Ability to Listen and Communicate (written and verbal).

    Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced ever-changing work environment.
