Our Chicago roots date back to 1912 when Sam Berman opened our first neighborhood furniture store on Chicago's west side on Harlem Avenue.

Today, The RoomPlace is operated by third generation owner Bruce Berman, and is one of the top furniture retailers in the country with over 28 locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and California.


Position Summary


Responsible for assisting the General Manager in directing, administering and managing all aspects of the Store to include Clearance Center and Outlet.

Leading all aspects of the store operation with a primary focus on continuously improving the sales and profitability of the store.

The Operations Manager will assist in special events such as tent sales to support the cost-effective clearance of non-productive inventory.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the integrity of the store inventory
  • Responsible for receiving merchandise on a weekly basis
  • Manage inbound and outbound transfers
  • Printing/Displaying Sale signs, tags, and ownership of price accuracy
  • Directing Product placement in accordance with visual guidelines
  • Understand and execute office responsibilities
  • Maintaining overall transactions of the store
  • Checking Daily work
  • Cash management
  • Ordering supplies (Office/Cleaning)
  • Manage budget and schedules for hourly office and warehouse staff
  • Maintain lineup and bulletins on an ongoing basis
  • Maintain discounts of dropped/discontinued merchandise
  • Additional duties as requested by General Manager
  • Creating a WOW factor guest experience
  • Ensure all merchandise is in excellent condition and report any damages daily
  • Managing Clearance Merchandise and aged product to achieve maximum revenue
  • Manage store stops for outbound merchandise Monday Friday (Fly By)

About You /Qualifications

  • Strong management, delegation, and communication skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, highly selfmotivated and solutions driven.
  • Possess a high standard of professionalism. Must be a selfstarter, innovative thinker.
  • Advanced computer skills and ability to learn as needed
(Microsoft Office:

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF)

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule
  • Degree in Retail Administration or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum two (2) years Retail experience
