The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking to hire a student assistant to work with the staff of the Radiologic Health Branch.


Conditions of
**Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.


UEI does not allow students to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period.

UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week's notice.

**Prerequisites

Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable) at an accredited college or university.


Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.

**Majors/Fields of Study
Accounting, Business Administration, Chemistry, English, Health Science, Journalism, Education, Environmental Science, Physical Science, Social Work preferred but not required.

**Work Schedule
F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.

**Additional Work Schedule

Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees can work up to a max of 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the calendar year.

**Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.**Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an administrative role.
  • Familiarity with standard office practices, procedures, and equipment including but not limited to phones, printers, fax machines, and files. Strong analytical skills with the ability to multitask and problem solve.**
    Responsibilities:
  • Assist staff in answering phones and responding to inquiries from the public.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data.
  • Input and update data and maintain a variety of files, electronic records, directories, and databases.**Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

**Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment.

**Application Instructions

The Radiologic Health Branch (RHB) is within the Radiation Safety and Environmental Management Division of the Department of Public Health.

The Branch enforces the laws and regulations addressing ionizing radiation, including radioactive material, designed to protect the public, radiation workers, and the environment.

RHB is responsible for providing public health functions associated with administering a radiation control program.

This includes licensing of radioactive materials, registration of X-ray-producing machines, certification of medical and industrial X-ray and radioactive material users, inspection of facilities using radiation, investigation of radiation incidents, and surveillance of radioactive contamination in the environment.
