The Columbia Stem Cell Initiative (CSCI) Stem Cell Core is seeking a highly motivated Staff Associate I to help supporting the daily activities of the core.

The Stem Cell Core team work on iPSC derivation, differentiation into various progenies and gene editing using CRISPR-Cas9.

Qualifications:


  • Derivation and characterization of induced pluripotent stem cell lines.
  • Maintain and distributes induced pluripotent stem cell lines and human embryonic stem cells.
  • Perform Mycoplasma screening of cell lines.
  • Help with differentiation of iPSC into various progenies.
  • Help with gene editing, including genotyping.
  • Assist in the organization and teaching of training workshops for researchers interested in learning techniques relevant to iPSCderivation, culture, differentiation and gene editing.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of the equipment.
  • Communicate with users and with vendors.
  • Maintain accurate records, and prepare presentations on performed experiments.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of professional work experience preferred.
Preferred Qualification

  • Neuroscience and Physiology Courses
  • At least 2 years of experience with fibroblast derivation from skin biopsies and PBMC isolation from whole blood
  • At least 2 years of experience in iPSC derivation from blood and fibroblasts; iPSC maintenance
  • At least 2 years of experience with CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technology, including genotyping
  • Ability to work proactively and in a collaborative, international, teamoriented environment
  • Exceptional organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to review information critically, make decisions to solve complex problems and learn new tasks with general supervision.
