Position Overview:


The Vice Principal at Mission Dolores Academy (MDA) serves as a crucial leader in the educational journey of our K-8 students.

Working closely with the Principal, the Vice Principal plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of the academic intervention program, the wellness program, and discipline system, fostering an environment conducive to the holistic development of each student.

This position requires a deep commitment to the mission and values of our independent Catholic school.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborative Leadership: Work in tandem with the Principal to lead the faculty in the effective implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies aligned with MDA's schoolwide learning outcomes. Together with the Principal, oversee the management of the school's spiritual formation, extracurricular programs, and safety practices, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Provide senior leadership in the absence of the Principal when needed.
  • Teacher Support and Development: Lead the teacher observation and evaluation process for our associates and specialists. Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and mentorship opportunities to ensure continuous improvement in teaching practices for interventions.

Behavioral Interventions:

Lead the academic intervention team and wellness team in identifying the best use of our resources on current student caseloads and needed interventions.


  • Professional Development: Facilitate training sessions and workshops for faculty and staff on effective classroom management techniques, conflict resolution strategies, and restorative justice practices. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth in support of positive behavior management.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in faculty and parent meetings, including parentteacher conferences, staff retreats, and regular faculty gatherings. Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including employees, students, and families, recognizing the vital role of parents as primary educators.

Social Integration:

Contribute to the vibrant school culture by actively participating in school-wide social and cultural events, both during and outside the regular school day.

Serve as a role model of respectful behavior and uphold MDA values as outlined in the School-Wide Learning Expectations.

  • Compliance and Administration: Enforce the rules and procedures outlined in the MDA Employee Handbook and Parent Handbook. Ensure adherence to Archdiocesan guidelines for providing a Catholic educational program that promotes academic success, spiritual growth, and moral development.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and enforcement of schoolwide disciplinary policies and procedures in alignment with MDA's values and standards. Work closely with the Principal to ensure consistency and fairness in disciplinary actions.
  • Behavior Management: Support teachers and staff in implementing positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to promote a positive school climate and reduce disruptive behaviors. Provide guidance and resources to address individual student needs effectively. Working closely with the Wellness Team, the vice principal will lead restorative circles, SSTs (Student Success Teams), and other necessary interventions during the day including lunch time and Tiger Leap period.
  • Data Analysis: Collaborate with the Principal and Director of Wellness to analyze discipline data and identify trends or patterns that may require intervention or adjustment to existing policies. Utilize data to inform decisionmaking and develop targeted strategies for improving student behavior.
  • Parent Communication: Work closely with the Principal to communicate with parents and guardians regarding disciplinary issues, interventions, and progress. Provide support and resources to families to reinforce positive behavior at home and school.
  • Flexible Support: Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to perform additional duties as requested by the Head of School or Principal, in alignment with the school's mission and operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic school setting
  • Master's degree in Education or related field preferred
  • Administrative experience or leadership role in education
  • Administrative Credential preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred)
  • Understanding of Catholic teachings and commitment to fostering a faithfilled environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in educational technology, Google and Microsoft Office Suites, and datadriven decisionmaking

Pay:
$95, $110,000.00 per year
