Job Description ELECTRICIAN, APPRENTICE Support Department Eglin AFB Open Position Request Number R-32-24CLASSIFICATION:
Electrician, Apprentice; $18.54 Hourly
GRADE:
Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time
LOCATION:
Range Services, Eglin AFB FL - On Site
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The apprentice Electrician learns and performs non-supervisory work on a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy
GENERAL DUTIES:
The apprentice Electrician will receive training and instruction from Journeyman Electricians
On-the-job training will be provided in most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment
The apprentice will learn to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, as well as locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment
The apprentice will learn to work using standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and in use of a variety of electrician's hand tools, measurement, and testing instruments
OTHER DUTIES:
Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas such as environmental, safety, and security
May be required to obtain a CDL
Job Requirements EDUCATION/
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a high school graduate currently enrolled in an electrician program at an accredited trade school or must enroll in an accepted vocational or trade school Electrician program within 180 days of hiring
Work tasks will comply with registered apprentice on the job training goals with academic and job performance monitored quarterly by an apprenticeship panel
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance as well as a valid state driver's license
Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies
Supports Process Improvement
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will be performed both inside and outside in hot, humid, and cold weather, often at unimproved locations
Periodic overtime and weekend work will be required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires crawling, bending, stooping, and working in various awkward positions
Must be capable of lifting or shifting heavy items to complete work
