Role Summary:
This position has the responsibility to coordinate and complete Integration testing and provide release statements for the defined functions (both electrical and customer) for the vehicles sold in the North American market.
This will be achieved by static testing using test boards and simulators as well as full functional testing in the field.
Responsibilities includes organizing and overseeing the Integration testing from start to finish (from project schedule, test preparation and test procedure, through test reports and approvals)Role Responsibilities:
Software/Hardware Validation
– (50%)
·
As needed checks Program Points and ensure proper testing and resources are planned
·
Plans and organizes needed parts and vehicles
·
Assures that all test cases are provided, ensuring relevance to the region
·
Ensures that all test cases are performed on each component/control module in each of the necessary vehicle and powertrain configurations for defined test phases
·
Completes documentation (failure report, vehicle protocol, network traces) on any issues identified during the integration testing and reports through internal tracking system
·
Creates regular status reports as requested by partner teams
·
Gives release recommendation for Integration for software and hardware tested
Field Test Coordination
– (25%)
·
Identifies, confirms, and maintains a database of test routes for field drives based on destination and/or test features
·
Organizes test plans (static and dynamic) and coordinates with the interested participants
·
Ensures execution of all phases of the test phase from planning, vehicle preparation, test execution, results documentation and follow up
·
Works closely with partners in VWAG and VWdMex to ensure testing is completed to the required standards
·
Ensures documentation (failure report, vehicle protocol, network traces) on electrical communication errors during production in Chattanooga or during the launch phase of vehicles in the field
·
Uploads the documentation to the central database and follows up directly with responsible engineers for resolution
·
Provides regular reports of failure ticket status to partners in VWAG, VWdMex and Chattanooga
·
Attends the Fehlerrunde as needed in order to resolve failure tickets quickly
Mentorship/Coaching
– (10%)
·
Provides guidance, advice, feedback and support to the team members with less experience
·
Ensures specialized knowledge and team processes are well documented
Qualifications:
Years of Experience:
3+ years of experience with automotive electronic system testing
Education - Required:
·
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent
Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Skills:
·
Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
·
Communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
·
Computer savvy – skilled in the use of software
·
Integration – joining people, processes or systems
·
Influencing and negotiation skills
·
Resource management and organization
·
German or Spanish skills written and verbal are advantageous
Specialized Skills - Required:
·
Experience with automotive control modules
·
Experience with automotive control module root cause analysis
·
Understanding of vehicle communication networks and the ability to capture
·
Experience with electric vehicle system architectures
·
Experience testing/releasing full vehicle electrical systems
(module and functional testing)
·
Ability to trouble-shoot communication breakdowns within the network by analyzing the network communication
Work Flexibility:
·
Frequent travel to partner teams at VWdeMexico, Puebla, Mexico and VW AG, Wolfsburg, Germany
·
Frequent road testing consisting of 1-2 weeks on the road
