    The Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP), operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH), is seeking a dynamic, passionate and experienced professional to aid the Clinical Director in oversight of the day-to-day functions of the clinical components of the Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP) treating women and men admitted under MGL Chapter 123 Section 35.

    The incumbent must be able to deliver substance use treatment services with a recovery orientation, ensuring RAP complies with all policies/procedures, federal regulations, Confidentiality of Alcohol and Abuse Policy and HIPAA Guidelines.


    To be successful in this role, the Clinical Supervisor must have thorough understanding and experience with Dual Diagnosis as well as knowledge of the Section 35 process and procedures; familiarity with managing an in-patient program including de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, ability to set and reinforce milieu rules and crisis de-briefing techniques.

    Our applicant will ensure that all licensing and accreditation standards are met.

    The Clinical Supervisor interacts with local and community service networks in a manner that enhances the public relations of the facility.


    Work Schedule:
    The selected candidate will work 40 hours per week from 8:30AM - 5:00PM. The days off are Saturday and Sunday.

    Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):


    • Assists the Clinical Director in overseeing the day-to-day functions of the clinical components of the RAP including individual counseling, group facilitation, lectures, orientation for new clients, discharge, aftercare planning and case management of clients.
    • Supervises clinical staff to ensure program model adherence; provides direct and indirect clinical and administrative supervision to all clinical program staff.
    • Develops clinical protocols, organizing staff training, orientation and review of clinical protocols.
    • Provides skilled clinical services for dual recovery clients including individual, group, and family interventions.
    • Demonstrates behaviors that recognize the human rights of clients.
    • Ensures the development, oversight, administration, and coordination of the clinical treatment program including compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements.
    • Leads and or participates in performance improvement projects and implements changes, based on assessment and analysis of data, surveys, and other objective collection tools.
    • Confirms treatment models are delivered as well as recruitment, hiring, training, performance appraisals and recommendation and implementation of corrective actions as necessary.
    • Coordinates the training and orientation of the clinical staff and interns.
    • Provides oversight, improvement and compliance pursuant to Joint Commission standards including Critical Clinical
    • Reviews and participates in Root Cause Analysis.
    • Fosters continued education in the field of substance use disorders, psychiatric illnesses, and any other job-related courses deemed necessary for program staff.
    • Safeguards medical records are completed, confidential, professional, complete and thorough with entries made in a timely manner.
    • Coordinates team meetings, mentor staff, foster and facilitate the ability to achieve highest level of professional growth, performance and career advancement.
    • Provides performance improvement recommendations, based on assessment and analysis of data, surveys, and other objective collection tools.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with relevant professional codes of ethics, patient rights, and human rights.
    • Knowledge and experience with Dual Dx as well as de-escalation techniques and trauma informed principles.
    • Awareness of the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities including Joint Commission.
    • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clinical staff, clients, families, and providers.
    • Skilled in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion and decision making to achieve objectives.
    • Critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    • Record of supervising clinical staff and ability to lead, inspire and empower demonstrating confidence and leadership presence.
    • Thoroughness, independence and excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

    Program Requirements:

    • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with clients with primary substance use disorders; knowledge of substance use and treatment systems.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Professional licensure in a human service field including, but not limited to License Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
    • Ability to demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward individuals with substance use disorders.
    • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
    • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

    About the Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP):


    The Department of Mental Health (DMH) in collaboration with the Department of Public Health (DPH) Bureau of Substance Addiction Services operates a statewide Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP) for individuals civilly committed by the courts for substance use treatment for up to 90 days ("Section 35 commitment").


    The program model will provide acute detoxification and early clinical stabilization services as we help clients develop community-based linkages to outpatient supports and substance use disorder treatment providers.

    The individuals treated within this program will be linked upon discharge to a range of services within the DPH continuum of care for substance use conditions.

    RAP provides administrative, medical, clinical, and non-clinical services. Its mission to provide quality client-centered care and recovery-oriented treatment.

    MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    At least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a Master's degree in social work.

    Based on assignment to second-level supervisory positions, at least one year of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.


    SUBSTITUTIONS:

    • A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.
    • No substitution will be permitted for the required supervisory experience. One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:
    A Master's or higher degree in social work is required.


    LICENSES:

    • Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.
    • Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
