Job Posting Description

This Finance Manager will be responsible for:

  • Preparing financial statements and associated balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis; the monthly budget performance reports, analyzing and explaining significant budget variances; and, performing financial analyses, including long range financial projections, cash flow, and return on investment performance.
  • Monitoring and maintaining department recordkeeping systems, including highly sensitive and/or critical administrative and financial data.
  • Overseeing input of information into computer databases and spreadsheets, monitoring data validity and compiles, printing and distributing periodic reports and other information as needed.
  • Evaluating, recommending and implementing changes or upgrades in systems as appropriate.
  • Reviewing the current accounting system and chart of accounts to ensure that future needs will be met and recommend any changes considered necessary.
  • Reviewing and approving all check requisitions and ensures proper coding and adequate supporting documentation. Initiating and processing payment requisitions for special fund and grant expense reimbursement.
  • Invoicing appropriate institutions for salary expenses. Initiates processing of documents for professional and technical personnel in order to ensure that sponsored salary support funds are utilized properly and fully and on a timely basis. Maintaining accurate salary spreadsheet to ensure proper recovery of grant supported salaries
  • Managing the annual budget process, including the development of key assumptions and trends, and preparing the annual budget report for approval by senior staff.
  • Assisting in the production of grant submissions, as required. Develops budgets in consultation with principal investigators. Acting as primary resource to departments for specific budgetary guidelines of funding agencies and as liaison with funding agencies and hospital grant administration. Coordinating submission of progress reports.
  • Managing sponsored contracts internally and externally including administrative and financial relationships with collaborating institutions. Negotiating professional services contracts with external agencies. Developing and/or monitoring billing systems for contractual arrangements.
  • Assisting with the yearend audit process, if required. Preparing the audited financial statements and required disclosures and assures compliance with all regulatory filings, including federal and state tax and Form 1099 filings.
  • Participating in administrative and policy discussions of the department, offering suggestions for the development of policy and administrative procedures to support better management of the department and or Hospital.
  • Serve as a resource to the office staff at throughout the institution to help support efficient operations.

To qualify, you must have:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Healthcare Management required
  • 5 years of progressively increasing experience in healthcare finance required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Public Health or Business Administration preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Extensive knowledge of financial theories, statistical analysis, and healthcare delivery systems; outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; direct knowledge of practice reengineering, cost accounting or financial analysis; and knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of hospital Laboratory Capital Planning, Coding and Billing and multiply cost center management is a plus.
