    Description

    We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our expanding hospital team to provide top-notch care to our patients. You will collaborate with experienced Vet Assistants and Receptionists, assist our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the day-to-day operations of the hospital.     Position Skills:

    • Support DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, preparing patients for surgery and minor procedures, assisting in surgeries, and proactively setting up for procedures or diagnostic tests
    • Handle animals safely, efficiently, and compassionately
    • Take accurate vitals, record medical histories, and report any changes in a patient's condition to the DVM
    • Collect and prepare laboratory samples like fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
    • Maintain and care for medical equipment including lab machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and other essential tools
    • Deliver high-quality client communication regarding patient updates and inquiries
    • Answer and make calls to clients for scheduling purposes
    • Prioritize tasks calmly and efficiently
    • Keep thorough documentation through client and pet records, including referral documents and previous medical histories
    • Guide clients by providing necessary instructions, information, invoices, dispensing prescription items as per the vet's orders, and scheduling future appointments
    • Use hospital computer systems for documenting medical records and communicating with clients and colleagues
    • Manage the financial aspects of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances, handling client transactions, following cash and credit card procedures, and adhering to opening and closing protocols
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service and professional communication skills
    • Advocate for pets through educating clients on preventive care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations, and other hospital services
    • Maintain a positive attitude in interactions with clients, pets, and colleagues
    • Show empathy towards clients and treat pets with compassion and respect

    Position Requirements:

    • High School diploma or GED certificate
    • Flexible schedule including weekend and holiday shifts
    • Familiarity with medical procedures and animal handling
    • Strong communication skills, good judgment, ability to handle stressful situations, and collaborate respectfully with the team
    • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Salary range of $12.35-$20.90/hour based on experience
