The Assistant Dean is also responsible for implementing our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculums in grades 6-12, processing behavioral incidents, tracking and managing data related to student behavior, and communicating effectively with students, staff, and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESIn collaboration with the Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean of Students will ensure the effective implementation of Salem Academys Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).


These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

working with staff, students, and families to promote a safe and supportive school cultureworking with the Executive Director, Managing Director of Safe and Supportive Culture, Principals, and Dean of Students to provide staff training on policies and procedures regarding behavior and cultureactively monitor student behavior in common areas throughout the dayensuring that Positive Behavior Supports are implemented effectivelycommunicating with families and staff regarding behavior incidentsoversees the day-day-day logistics of the internal and external mentorship programssupervising restorative circles, reflection rooms, and detention when necessaryadministering behavior plans and other supports as neededreporting all incidents of bullying and harassment as stated in the Bullying Prevention and Intervention PlanQUALIFICATIONSBelief in the mission and vision of the schoolAbility to provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful school environmentDemonstrated ability to connect with diverse students and familiesDemonstrated ability to lead, coach, and collaborate with adults from a diverse range of perspectives and backgroundsAn entrepreneurial spirit that reflects an openness to change, willingness to problem-solve, and an interest in developing new ideas and programsOutstanding written and oral communication skillsFluency in Spanish a plusSalem Academy Charter School values a school culture that celebrates learning, and we believe that the adult culture in the school is the foundation of the schools success.
