Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a
Scientist, Biologics Analytical Development located in Malvern, PA.

The Scientist, Biologics Analytical Development will play a key role in driving financial efficiency and accuracy. This position requires a strong understanding of financial planning, project management, and data visualization tools.

The individual will be responsible for managing capital and expense budgets, resource allocation, project oversight, and the creation of insightful dashboards and reports to inform strategic decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Handle monthly closing and reporting including the provision of accurate, timely and reliable financial information.
  • Develop and manage capital and expense budgets, including forecasting, scenario planning, and variance analysis.
  • Support the development and analysis of resource algorithms for Biologics Analytical activities to ensure optimal allocation of budget, personnel, equipment, and other resources across projects.
  • Analyze project actuals and ensure they are aligned with forecasted budgets.
  • Update project budgets during business planning cycles.
  • Ensure projects deliver on time and within budget, including Capital and Departmental budgets.
  • Use data visualization tools to build clear and concise dashboards and reports that track key performance indicators (KPIs), financial performance metrics, and project progress.
  • Perform indepth data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks related to financial performance and project execution.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (Finance, Operations, Scientists, PMO) to ensure alignment and communication.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support investment decisions and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Recommend process improvements, standardization, and stability to enhance budgeting, resource management, and project execution.
  • Support project management for molecules in development and commercial product activities.
  • Directly work with key customers and partners within DPDS, PMO, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor company's internal financial controls and procedures and assist in both internal and external audits.
  • Actively contribute as a member of the Biologics Analytical Development team in projects related to finance processes, system improvements, training, and development.

Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Finance, or other related scientific field, with 8+ years of industry experience OR Master's degree/MBA with 5+ years of industry experience OR PhD with 2+ years of industry experience.

Experience and Skills:


Required:


  • Understanding of biologics pharmaceutical development process is required.
  • Proven experience with planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis is required.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets is required.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office including Excel, Word, OneNote, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Experience with project management is required.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of an organization is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is required.

Preferred:


  • Proactive and innovative is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI) is preferred.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with tight deadlines is preferred.
  • Highly selfmotivated with ability to work independently is desired.
  • Experience with financial modeling tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting principles (GAAP) is preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking skills are preferred.
