Payroll Specialist to join the Corporate Finance Team located in the Clear Lake area of Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities:


The
Payroll Specialist will:


  • Work closely with the accounting team, Human Resources and employees to ensure payroll processed timely and accurately.
  • Perform employee payroll setup in UKG system.
  • Perform payroll related payment process.
  • Prepare leave accrual journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly close processes.
  • Respond to information requests, review financial records, and assist with audits.
  • File state and local taxes and surveys.
  • Support other roles within Accounting and Finance.
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Corporate Controller as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required Education/Experience/Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting from an accredited college of university, plus three (3) years of payroll experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook and strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.
  • Ability to have face to face conversations with coworkers and highlevel management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
  • Selfmotivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and followup skills.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device.
  • Comply with company policies and procedure.

Preferences:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Experience with Deltek, CostPoint, and UKG Payroll and Timekeeping.
  • Government Contractor experience.
  • ERP system experience.

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
