Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Job Coach to join our team.

As a Maintenance Job Coach, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and upkeep of our facilities while teaching and assisting adults with Intellectual Disabilities.

This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as patience to assist and teach skills alongside vocational program members.


Job Summary


Job Coaches are responsible for teaching comprehensive work skills in a variety of settings to Program Members served in the Agency's Employment Services program.

The Agency supports adults with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities through contracted Work programs.


Job coaches are considered working supervisors and are meant to foster independence at program sites by modeling, verbal instruction and cueing, based upon a Program Member's specific needs.

These models of teaching encompass social skills as well as task specific skills.


As part of the Maintenance team, this position will directly supervise program members on work sites related to maintenance projects.

The employee is expected to have his or her own hand tools such as a tape measure, razor knife, hammer, bag or tool belt.

All other hand or power tools are provided.

If your personal tool is damaged during working hours, your supervisor may replace the tool at equal value or model.


Environment


Work sites will vary, to include any potential community site as well as within the building, which does have a factory/production area.

Job duties include working in varying weather conditions, including cold and hot temperatures and inclement weather. Work spaces may involve heights, small spaces or Industrial areas. Work in the Agency's day programs may involve crowds and noise.

Job coaches will be required to drive program members, so weather and traffic conditions will vary.


Vocational staff work in conjunction with the Agency's Day Habilitation programs and Vocational staff will meet Program Members in their Day Habilitation program.

Often Program Members and Staff may be engaged in stimulating activities that are noisy, crowded, and sometimes confined. Larger and quieter spaces are provided for sensory decompression.


Depending upon assignment, staff may be in a stationary position throughout the day, e.g., sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Appropriate dress is required, as program activities occur year-round, e.g. in heat or cold. Some Work/Volunteer sites may require professional attire.


Maintenance sites include working with hazardous materials, on sites that are under construction and that require the use of safety wear.


Essential Functions:


  • Commute Program Members to and from job sites, either by vehicle or pedestrian transportation while keeping to the assigned schedule.
  • Assist each Program Member in learning the skills necessary for a successful completion of his/her job. Stepbystep teaching techniques are often required. Typically teaching techniques include modeling the steps paired with verbal instruction.
  • Perform various tasks which may include painting, moving material, cleaning, surface preparation, etc. as directed by plant manager and maintenance coordinator.
  • Work on staging/ladders/scaffolding as needed
  • Document the activities and successful skill acquisition of program members using Task Analysis Sheets, Case notes, Data Sheets, Community Participation Logs, incident reports and behavior tracking and other tools as assigned. Documentation requirements may include sign in and sign out sheets.
  • Interfacing with employees, customers and management in employment locations is essential. Ensure that his/her Employee/Employer relationships is a beneficial one by initiating or facilitating open communication.
  • Address any social concerns that may impact work performance on the job and provide role modeling to demonstrate appropriate social skills and control in the workplace.
  • Complete small maintenance projects while supervising program members, serving as a positive role model
  • Job Coaches are made aware of program members goals and objectives and will track these on individual TAs.
  • Job Coaches are responsible for entering into Paylocity (client payroll) for each program member they work with each day.
  • Job Coaches will be responsible for snow removal and sanding as needed.
  • Ability to safely move furniture and other large items as part of a team or using assistive devices; items may be of odd shape and require maneuvering to manage.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or GED preferred
  • Related Work/Personal History teaching skills or working with persons with disabilities preferred
  • Driver's license required; Ability to obtain and renew a DOT card prefererd
  • To meet all required background checks and
    drug testing upon hire and annually, as required by Regulatory Authori
