- Maintain compliance with all environmental and safety standards, regulations, codes, licenses, and reporting requirements and lead and install a zero-incident culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, procedures, and processes.
- Focus on maintaining and improving the use of leading indicators to improve performance. Examples include strong near-miss reporting, accurate and effective incident investigations, and creating/maintaining a proactive and predictable operation.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through our shop floor management methodologies that create standardization, reduce waste, and create effective data-driven change with documented results.
- Drive and demonstrate improved departmental performance that is in line with business/customer requirements. Examples include driving injuries to zero, reducing waste and emissions, reducing operating costs, increasing volume, and improving product quality.
- Work with the engineering groups to understand and implement improvements towards generating and maintaining standardization/variation reduction, improve technology understanding, develop improved technologies, to implement change/expansion, and develop better procedures and response plans.
- Direct and coordinate production and processing activities
- Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
- Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
- Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production problems and ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
- Resolve personnel grievances in collaboration with the Human Resources Department
- Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
- Support the production planning group with the necessary predictive and accurate operational information required for tracking, forecasting, and reporting of production against monthly, quarterly, and yearly plans and forecasts.
- Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
- Work collaboratively with other unit managers and other plant operating staff to optimize the plant operations as a whole on a daily basis.
- Interface with other departments (maintenance, production planning, HSEA, PSM, etc)
- Clearly communicate company and department annual goals and enhance employees' understanding of their importance/role in achieving corporate and departmental goals.
- Define and track appropriate metrics/KPIs prepare progress reports as needed and hold direct reports accountable for developing/delivering KPIs and other metrics.
- Implement and review safety procedures and other prevention standards which include departmental communication, the application of emergency procedures, reviewing incident reports, surveying accidents, and issuing proper reports.
- Identify and maintain external links, networks, and collaborations with third-party entities useful in maintaining knowledge of current best-in-practice methods for the department.
- Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma and five (5) to ten (10) years of industrial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree in science, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Requires three (3) to five (5) years managerial or supervisory experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and SAP
- Familiarity with MES, Jump or similar programs.
- Ability to mentor/motivate hourly workforce and consistently deliver on goals and promises.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individual employees and managers.
- Must be a team player and supportive of management and corporate initiatives.
- Knowledge of company operating processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs or objectives and to foster change and improvement in the organization.

- Develop and manage budgets and approve expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, and equipment are used efficiently to meet targets.
- Approval of salary increases bonuses and promotions within the department.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to climb stairs, stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Employees will spend a significant portion of their time in their assigned production unit.
- The noise level in the units is loud and the employee will be exposed to wet or humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold and heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation and vibration.
- The position is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week depending on assigned location.
