Commercial Attaché - Buildings & Construction
The
Government of Québec operates thirty-seven representations worldwide, with nine offices in the United States including: New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC.
Serving the Mid-Atlantic states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Kentucky), it promotes Québec in the areas of trade, investment, government and public affairs, science and technology, education, culture, and immigration.
Role description:
- Identifying and delivering B2B lead generation, event marketing and partnership opportunities for Québec companies.
- Advising and supporting Québec companies with their business in the Mid-Atlantic region (_New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, and Washington D.C_.).
- Forging strong relationships with relevant market actors.
- Promoting the strengths of the Québec construction sector including with regards to green buildings and fostering best practices sharing.
- Attending industry events and conferences, monitoring relevant market trends, and identifying and communicating actionable information to clients and partners.
- Developing and carrying out strategies and action plans to help Québecbased companies achieve positive economic outcomes.
- Growing and maintaining a customer base of Québec businesses.

Willingness to conduct a substantial part of the work in person - including at meetings and events in or out of the office in Midtown Manhattan - and to travel frequently within the Mid Atlantic region, and up to two times per year to Québec

Relevant experience: Two years minimum:
- Solid understanding of the NY metro area and Mid-Atlantic construction sectors (trends, decisionmaking processes, regulations, sales processes, etc.), and a good existing network of business contacts (with developers, general contractors, engineering firms, architects, etc.)
- Strong customer service orientation, networking and business development skills.
- Proactiveness and creativity in identifying opportunities and courses of action.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong research, prospecting, communication and relationship management skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Prior knowledge of the Québec economy and industrial landscape and of Québec-US trade relations would be considered assets but are not essential.
Hybrid Remote
Note that this is a Hybrid remote job that combines on-site work at a specific address with some remote flexibility.
