Summary:

The Bilingual Community Navigator provides support to the Clinical and Program Director with respect to areas of CSCLA's Spanish-Speaking programming.

The position is responsible for the facilitation of support groups for people affected by cancer and for providing brief counseling for individuals, couples, and families.

The Bilingual Community Navigator assists with the overall CSCLA program by leading orientation meetings, conducting initial interviews, assisting with program outreach, linking participants to resources, and providing support for the Child, Teen & Family program, etc.

The Bilingual Community Navigator is expected to represent CSCLA's mission, core concepts, and philosophy. This position may require weekend and evening hours. Bilingual in Spanish and English required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide intake interviews and customized support plans as needed and in coordination with the Clinical and Program Director;
  • Facilitate support groups within the framework of the Cancer Support Community model;
  • Conduct brief individual, couples, and/or family counseling sessions utilizing a brief therapy model;
  • Lead new participant orientations to welcome new Spanish-Speaking participants and assist participants with registration as needed. Work as part of the Admin team to continuously review and improve the onboarding process;
  • Provide documentation for all patient contact, including intake and progress notes, support group attendance, contact logs, authorizations to release information, etc.;
  • Maintain monthly records, attendance sheets, rosters, etc. when facilitating/cofacilitating support groups;
  • Attend regular training group supervision meetings, clinical team meetings, staff meetings, admin meetings, and individual/triadic supervision sessions as appropriate to responsibilities and prelicensure requirements;
  • Be responsible for finding substitute coverage for any planned absences. Notify Clinical and Program Director of absences due to illness/emergency/unplanned absences. Coverage requests are discussed in Training Supervision and/or Clinical Team Meeting
  • Assist with Spanish-Speaking membership recruitment efforts in order to extend reach of services to a broader population;
  • Assist Program Coordinator with creation and distribution of eblasts/flyers in Spanish to increase membership and participation;
  • Administer Support Care Plan (Distress Screening) and Intake Interviews; Perform new member followup calls (Spanish and English);
  • Identify and build relationships with relevant community organizations and hospital systems to build database of local resources and steward robust partnerships;
  • Act as an agency representative at outreach events and satellite partnerships.

Salary and Benefits

Education/Experience:


Master's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university; must be working toward licensure in the state of California.

Must be specifically trained in CSC philosophy and methodology and utilize those skills in group facilitation at CSC. BBS or BOP registration as Associate or Psychology Assistant preferred.


Certificates and Licenses:


Must be working toward licensure as a psychotherapist (social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, etc.) in the state of California.

Documentation of master's degree and malpractice insurance coverage is required.
