- Climb wood utility poles
- Dig ground, ditches, or holes using digging bar and shovel to install cable and pull-boxes
- Work around hazardous equipment and work near energized parts or equipment
- Replace bulbs and troubleshoot light issues
- Set up work zones and cones to provide traffic control
- Assist with assembling material on the ground
- Work efficiently and effectively from heights
- Operates various tools for the work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers come-along, jack hammers,drills, ground rod drivers, hand lines, etc.)
- Use of meters and other testing devices on secondary voltages up to 600 Volts
- Valid Drivers' License with good driving record.
- Valid Flagger Certification by the State of North Carolina.
- Knowledge and skillful implementation of federal and state regulations for work zone safety and traffic control.
- Knowledge of manual on Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD) guidelines and the translation of this to control traffic by using proper devices and techniques.
- Knowledge of safety rules for construction sites and the ability to abide by them.
- 500 hours experience in traffic control flagging.
- Basic understanding of construction job sites.
- Ability to work nights, weekend and holidays if needed.
